During the aging process, the neck droops and the muscle layer underneath show itself in a deformity with the so called vertical bands. The lower face deformity combines with the neck region. We make the mandibular alignment visible and reposition the neck tissues to their original places.
The incisions are made inside and behind the ear so that they are not visible. An ideal beautiful neck should be smooth and tight. The angle between the neck and lower jaw should be around 90°.
The surgery is performed in an operating room. General anaesthesia is usually preferred. The surgery can be done in 1 to 2 hours according to the degree of sagging and the type of lift. A hospital stay of 1 day is usually sufficient but the patient can be discharged if operated early during the day.
