Peeling – Skin Rejuvenation

Mechanical peeling with abrasive tools (dermabrasion) is performed on the outer layer of the facial skin. The outer layer of the skin is removed superficially. It activates new collagene production. The skin looks smoother and healthier after healing. Skin becomes more hydrated, young and beautiful. You can get rid of the stains on your face, hands and body.  Sun protection is necessary for a few months after the healing period. The method is useful for fine wrinkles, irregularities and spots.

Chemical peeling is done using different chemicals for peeling purposes. Mixture of phenol and trichloracetic acid ‘TCA’ are the most commonly used agents. Different concentrations cause different depths of peeling and this yields to new skin that looks taut and smooth. Chemical peeling, is done in an outpatient condition. Less strong chemicals like alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), peels the skin without causing a visible wound but their effectiveness is less than the others and more sessions are needed.

Superficial peeling, is performed to obtain a young, smooth and fresh appearence. After treatment you can go back to work. Deep peeling, is preferred in patients who have sun damaged skin, stains, spots, lines and wrinkles. It also decreases acne scar visibility. It causes the skin to look healthy and shiny. You should protect the area with sun screens for a few months.
